I have been neglecting my blog because I have been creating artwork. For weeks 4 and 6 of the Documented Life Project I made quite detailed images. I have also made a piece to enter for my WI’s Eisteddfod – so I have been painting rather than blogging! I am thoroughly enjoying being more creative, but have to be careful that I give the necessary attention to other things as well. Fortunately—now that Aro Ling Cardiff is open—I have concentrated work time while I am there, so it is only things like housework and ironing that are being neglected!
The theme for week 4 was to write a secret message and paint over it all except for one word. I decided to use the words themselves as the basis of the piece.
Week 5 was a doodle. Week 6 was to use another artist’s work as the inspiration for your own piece. I chose Sir Edward Burne-Jones—one of my favourite painters—and created a mixed media image using collage, watercolour pencils, ink and gel pens.
This week’s challenge is to repeat a shape. I have chosen the shape of a daffodil. It has had to be a quick and easy collage this week as I need to spend most of my spare time on preparing for teaching in Vienna next month.
