Kingley Vale

An ancient yew tree
Our second expedition while staying on Hayling Island was to Kingley Vale near Chichester – an ancient woodland of yew trees and a hill with burial mounds and great views.  We loved this place – such a sense of time among the trees, as if human life is an insignificant flicker in the slow progression of the life of the trees.  Some of the trees are hundreds of years old. We would not have been surprised to have discovered an ent.
