Buddha statue

This is the Buddha statue that sits outside the front of our house.  He is starting to look nicely weathered.

Resting on his hands is a torma.  This is a sculptural representation of the five elements: earth, water, fire, air and space.

We had a retreat at our home in 2005 that was dedicated to making such tormas in various sizes.  You can read about the retreat on Aro Encyclopaedia.   Our son—who was fourteen years old at the time—made 111 tiny tormas.  After the retreat we made an expedition to Cadair Idris in mid-Wales and he hid these tiny tormas along the route of our walk.
